This is all the sequences I have made... huge eh?
- Cave
Story - "Cave Story":
- I used the ORG file as a reference to get this as close
as it is, the instrumentation and the drum solo are mine though. This is from the "Plantation" level of Cave Story, and is also used as the Title screen theme!
Originally composed by Pixel.
- Cave
Story - Scorching Back:
- I used the ORG file as a reference to get this as close
as it is, the sax solo is original though. This is from
the "Egg Corridor?" level of Cave Story, and is
originally composed by Pixel.
- Cave
Story - Break Down:
- The final scene of ending one in Cave Story, very sad
sounding, entirely picked out by ear. Originally composed
by Pixel.
- Cave
Story - Break Down (Orchestral Rock Mix):
- Just Break Down, but extended with different
instrumentation.
This is all the MIDI compositions I can remember making. GOOD AIN'T THEY? (You decide)
PNT Navi Battle 1
This is a compostion I made for fangame that is Megaman Battle Network (Rockman.EXE) based. This is supposed to emulate a few battle themes from said series, and it is very electronic. The game project is called Project PNT (Personal Navi Terminal)
Black Sky 4 - A New Hope XG
This is a nice little title theme composed for a excersise at VGMusic. This is the "sequel" to the non-existant Black Sky 3 - Dawn of Exploration. I used most of the ideas from Black Sky 3 with very little original work I think. Becuase it was a sci-fi game the name is a reference to a popular sci-fi movie.
Funk That Techno With a Bass
This is a little teamcomp I did with ButzaW from the VGMusic forums. He is quite the composer and some of his ideas leave mine in the dust. We ended up with this just-under-three-minute ditty that will hopefully have you dancing! Completed March 14, 2006
Morphology
This is my theme, the orginal XG midi version, if you want to hear it properly you need an XG synthesizer of some sort. Other than that, enjoy. The guitar solo is in the spirit of "Limelight" by Rush, becuase they and that song are awsome. Completed January 11, 2006
Emotionless
XG
This is a straight-ahead rock song in the spirit of Slither by Velvet
Revolver, there is a lot of me in this, but over all I think it came out
rather dead feeling... oh well. There is also an XG version (which is far
better, trust me.) Completed on December 13, 2005
On the Trade Winds
It has heavy guitars and has a "Latin" Feel to
it. XG Completed on November 15, 2005
Running On Empty
It's a teamcomp! A composer on VGMusic whom I had become well acquainted with, SwordBolt, decided to do a teamcomp with me (on my request) so we did it in a week with me providing the bass line. Completed November 1, 2005
Toy Boss (Christmas Memory)
At VGMusic a person who goes by "Chibi Acelie" is making a game called "Christmas Memory." I decided that I should make some music for it, so I made this boss theme. You should be able to hear part of a well known Christmas Carol in here as well! Completed November 1, 2005
Paradox
A lot of people at VG Music, OMIDIA and Sapphire Control thought that this was a great underground piece, and the bells were awesome. I made this for Armadox on VGRP for a picture, and he said he wanted "Heavy Synth, Insidious" . MSGS is strongly recommended as it uses
a lot of the special patches. (If you have Windows you should have MSGS.) Completed October 21, 2005.
Boss Battle 1
This was one of my ideas for the EMC, very chaotic, and switches between 5/4 and 4/4 for 2 different sections. RPG Boss theme. Completed October 15, 2005.
Thinkin'
Contest entry into OMIDIA's "1000 Notes" contest. I had to compose a song that was inspired by a picture. So I did. I have gotten mixed responses about this one. Completed September 23, 2005
Franken '60s
Uhh... not really that big of a deal. Just another tune I wrote on my bass. (Except for the bridge, which is not possible without tapping.) Completed at 8:40 PM EST on September 30, 2005.
Town: Eclectic Arrange
Somewhere in the shadows of a Composition and a sequence, I was basically required to take a horrible MIDI, clean it up, hack it into pieces and submit it. So I did, best listened to on MSGS. This was the MIDI Makeover contest at OMIDIA. Completed September 8, 2005
Dawn:
Awhile ago, I had the delusional notion that I was good enough to make an album, so I began composing a series of pieces focusing on nature. Naturally I didn't fall through with it, but I completed it and made it MSGS just for you! Completed September 6, 2005.
The River Gaia:
Horn mentioned a week or so ago that he would like to do a team comp, I approached him and we made this piece, which I am quite proud of. Not really my normal style of composing, but Horn and I kinda just did it. MSGS recommended. Completed August 31, 2005
Conglomeration:
I was recording myself on my Yamaha MIDI keyboard to get the beginning melody for this piece, schizophrenic as most of my pieces tend to be. Completed August 22, 2005
From War to Peace: Epic Music Contest 3:
Wrote this for a contest at VGMusic Forums, the task was to make a song that worked with the 7 battle situations provided. I did an okay job, but I have a feeling I could have done better... Completed August 20, 2005
Indulgence of the Super-Ego:
My first try using odd meters and making meter changes without giving it away with a transition. It is my second longest piece at 4:17. Completed August 17, 2005
24/7:
XG
My first attempt at creating a song using layering and my
first use of Pitch bends to make Sax sound more
realistic... Completed August 3, 2005. UPDATED! XGed. The guitar strums were fixed.
Electronic Groove:
The fastest tempo I have ever composed in, I had the
hardest time getting it to 3 minutes. Completed July 13, 2005.
Never
Felt So Alone:
I was feeling very lonely when I wrote this, entirely on
my Bass, Keyboard and Sax. Completed last week of June 2005.
Theme:
XG
I tried to write a character theme for a specific situation and failed, but the song was good so I kept it. UPDATE! XGified! Sounds much better now.
Completed in mid-June 2005. *UPDATED*
Bi-Polar
Jazz:
I was experimenting with jazz chords and ended up doing a
revue of various Jazz styles. Completed in May 2005
The
Wheel Keeps Turning:
My first try at using jazz chords with a odd
instrumentation and a sax lead, ended up sounding very
dull, but listenable.
Work
it Out: XG
Just another bassline-turned-MIDI by me. UPDATED! Been XGed! Listen to with a Yamaha Keyboard or XG softsynth.
Soothing
War:
Written entirely off the computer (I write most of my songs
entirely on the computer.) This is still one of my best songs.
Completed May 15, 2005.
Hopeful
Future:
My first attempt at using Sax in my composing, very
disjointed and weird.
Upon
an Age:
I was trying make a Iron Madien style song to some Madien
Style lyrics, didn't work out exactly as I planned...
The
Long and Arduous Path:
My longest comp to date. (May 24)
Pentatonic
Band:
My first attempt at composing for concert band, very
short and cliché.
Key-Bass:
Ancient tune I made when I first started out, a piece of
junk until I added the Melody it now has.
Chutes
and Ladders:
I got pitch bend happy, and this is what resulted, around
the same time as Key-bass with no melody.
Major
Battle:
Written in the Summer of 2003 trying to emulate
"Seymour Battle" from FF10, and kinda did it...
Weird!:
My cousin composed the first minute and a half, and I
finished it. S'alright.
Battle
#2:
My second attempt at a battle tune. Just listen and see
for yourself! *UPDATED*
Hybrid:
My first song, that has some coherency, I was combining styles, the intro=techno, the meat of it is prog-rock. I was being experimental! Completed in the Spring of 2004!
OHCs or "One Hour Compositions" are very fun. The basic idea is you are given a theme, and possibly some restrictions. You then have exactly one hour to complete a song based on the theme with the restrictions. I have participated in a few of these and have had alot of fun doing them, the pieces presented here have not been touched from the time of their completion at the end of the OHC.
Iron Video Game Madien in a Castle (OHC25 at OMIDIA): The 25th OHC at OMIDIA, this was composing a Castle theme in the style of a composer with the name of G-M. So I naturally went against everyone else (they chose Video Game composers) and selected to compose something like Iron Madien! Boooya! I think I got a little close!
A SawOrgan in the Ancient Valley (OHC24 at OMIDIA): This is the 24th OHC at OMIDIA! This OHC was rather easy, I came up with the entire guitar line on my keyboard! We had to create an atmosphere of an ancient valley, using at least one instrument that is actually two instruments combined!
A Crappy Time to Grope (OHC23 at OMIDIA): This is the 23rd OHC at OMIDIA! I kinda had a hard time with this one. We were supposed to create cartoon music. I am not very good at that! We also had to use at least five pitchbends in the song... not too hard, but I think I made this song a tad ridiculous... and short.
Confusion in Avaloch! (OHC22 at OMIDIA): I hosted the 22nd OHC at OMIDIA! I kinda had a hard time with this one I think, although I made it. Only three people showed up! :( Ah well. The restriction was use the same melody to depict a town being invaded (as two seprete sections.) I am getting better at happy music!
Heated Battle in Happy Town (OHC21 at OMIDIA): The 21st OHC at OMIDIA. This is two eight measure jingles that are supposed to be situations in an RPG. That is what I did and that was the requrirment for the OHC which I spent only 20minutes on. Very heavy for the first 8 bars.
Rewrite (FFMQ: Crystal) (OHC16 at OMIDIA): The 16th OHC at OMIDIA. I was not completly happy with this one, I kinda disliked it from an accuracy to the original theme goes. We were supposed to recomopose a track for a Video Game of our choice for the specified situation. I misidentified the situation!
Hyperactive Invaders (OHC14 at OMIDIA): The 14th OHC at OMIDIA. This is extremely simple it only has one melody throughout the whole song. Be warned this is a rather CPU intensive MIDI as I have added a whole lot of instrument doubling and echo's to this. It may also be becuase it is at 250 BPMs!
Odd Town Quintet (OHC11 at OMIDIA): The 11th OHC at OMIDIA. This is another simple tune, a town theme. This is a very bright city of angels using some odd instrumentation as per the restriction. Also only five instruments were used. That is to say it is as quintet playing in a city of angels
Morphic Key Dungeon (OHC10 at OMIDIA): The 10th OHC at OMIDIA. I made a very simple tune for this one which was a song that had to change key every three bars! It is supposed to be a dungeon. The rock section is kind of a copout, but I like it all in all.
Climactic Battle (OHC09 at OMIDIA): The 9th OHC at OMIDIA, barely
got into this one, but the cue was "You have just discovered that the bad guy is
yoru brother/sister! Oh the tragedy!" I ended up writing a battle theme
that was kinda climactic and almost fit the bill. Not quite though.
Determined Rock (#Soundtempest):
This is just the source MIDI of an audio file that I made, the MIDI is just as good though so don't fret it. The cue was "Determination".
Simple Blues (OHC06 at OMIDIA):
This is the sixth OHC at OMIDIA and it is my third. I had a good time with this, but it sounds devilishly cliche due to the fact my jazz composition is not very developed yet. The cue was Jazz Town Bar After Midnight.
7-8 Love (OHC07 at OMIDIA)
This is the seventh OHC at OMIDIA and it was my fourth. I had a much better time composing this one, it could have used a soulful guitar solo but I came in 15 minutes late. The Theme was "love lost or gained" 7/8 was the restriction (Time sig.)
Life After the End (OHC08 at OMIDIA)
Okay, my longest OHC ever. The strings may need a volume control or some such but... ah well. Anyway, the theme was "Nuclear winter, Lifeless but strangely beautiful" I think I got the Lifeless, eerie feeling, but I missed out on the beauty.
